2017-02-20 12:13:08 Brett The New HistoricAerials website is launched. Let us know of any bugs you might encounter.
2017-02-20 12:15:26 jhankey What's going on with the updates? Logged on last night before the updates and it was working fine, but now that it has been updated it is bogged down so much I can't even pull up an aerial photo...just sits there and spins and spins but won't display anything. Tried multiple computers and multiple browsers. All other sites work fine, so it's this one for sure.
2017-02-20 13:02:18 spoiled Wow, not very impressed so far. Can not load a full image of anything. Taking forever. Will give it another try later.
2017-02-20 13:10:00 bee I must agree with previous comments. The new website is even S L O W E R than before. (You really need a better server) Oh...and bring back the "pin"
2017-02-20 15:06:51 spoiled Wow, what ever you techs did makes a world of difference. My first post was a little premature as it loads quickly now. Just wanted to say its a really cool site and I will be using it soon for my adventures in history. Thank you!
2017-02-20 18:27:25 jstrow Why on Earth did you drop the older aerials? In my current project I am interested in Rochester NY ca. 1951. This was the last aerial survey done before the expressways were built. Your site is now useless to me, and to anyone else interested in that place and time.
2017-02-20 19:09:15 bclinton13 When I selected the 1907 topo I want to purchase, half of the area is black. Is that what will show up when I buy it, or is this a copyright issue and it's just not downloading all the way in the preview window? Thanks!
2017-02-20 19:24:28 woden2 I just set up a subscription, and downloaded an 1800x1800 and 7200x 7200, and got an amorphous mass of gray blur in both instances. Is there any kind of help line, because I don't see one.
2017-02-20 19:41:28 heastburnjr The image is horrible. waste of money. I want a refund.
2017-02-20 21:40:03 trurh1253 I miss the old site
2017-02-21 07:12:42 KimmietheMime This seems to affect all areas, but use my location as an example; when I open the viewer, for a brief moment there are at least 2 or 3 maps from before 1951 listed, but they disappear when the page is finished loading. It happens too fast to even try to catch one to see if they work at all. The next map backwards should be 1938 so if you can see that it might help diagnose the issue. It's not to do with scrolling as far as I can see, as my Surface pen can't drag anything up further either. On a positive note, thanks SO much for adding location!! I think the issue with road overlays being offset by many yards on some of the pre-1960 maps is also resolved, yay.
2017-02-21 09:45:45 hgemmrig Congratulations, you fixed it until it is broken. Nothing loads now, can't figure out how to draw a polygon even if I could get a map to load...you just made your website obsolete
2017-02-21 09:47:44 jeffmpak Aerial photos will not load in the viewer. Please assess and fix this issue! Others seem to having the same issues! Please revert to the old system if possible until you get he bugs worked out of the new system. Do you have an ETA when the site will be up and running?
2017-02-21 09:51:13 Jamie I would like to subscribe but have questions about one of the items in the description concerning watermarks. It says something to the effect that there will be less prominent watermarks on the viewer image. What exactly does this mean? I was under the impression the watermarks would be removed for subscribers. Given the ability to download a reasonable resolution image as part of the subscription, screenshots of the viewer isn't necessary for subscribers because the image quality won't be any better. If anyone who has subscribed already, I would appreciate any feedback. Or if Brett reads this, his feedback would help. Jamie Mentzer
2017-02-21 21:53:43 EastKyDigger I use this site to only view areas of interest of metal detecting and have no desire, or need, at all to pay for images. I think a monthly subscription service of $10 a month just to view the maps without watermarks would be a service that would take off among people in my hobby who use it the same way. I've actually got used to the water marks, but $40 a month is way to expensive unless you plan to export images. Your subscription service seems to be tailored to this crowd and IMO you are not taking advantage of a cheaper service plan that many would be willing to pay with no extra options except no watermarks.
2017-02-22 07:04:51 ccman51 Where is the icon/pointer? I don't want to outline the property with measurement shading?
2017-02-22 07:39:09 Richrabino What's going on here? Maps will load just fine but any comparison features (slide/dissolve/spotlight) are kaput.
2017-02-22 07:57:56 gbuster@firstam.com I can't get the address search to work anymore. It just shows my current location and won't go to the addresses I type in. Any tips?
2017-02-22 08:55:16 Soopa Dave I don't see the icon to add a marker to show the GPS coordinates and I can no longer copy and paste from the HA site to paste on Google maps to find a location. So far the update has made this site useless for me. I sure hope to see the old features back on here soon. Thanks
2017-02-22 09:59:07 jhankey Specifically, topo maps that don't line up with the aerial photos?
2017-02-22 10:55:37 bsitko I, for one, LOVE when companies take the time to redo their website. I enjoy what you've done here. It's more appealing. Pulling maps though takes forever. One issue is SSL. Although the site is running on SSL, your tile server isn't. Browsers might or might not load this correctly. In fact, it's been very challenging to view any maps at all as I frequently get stuck with watching the yellow spinner of death. This site is amazing. The fact that I get to go back in time to view what used to be is second to none. Please get the speed issues under control though as it makes it hard to enjoy all of the hard work that you've done.
2017-02-22 16:06:16 wildwarren I just identified two photos I wanted to purchase and then went about selecting the areas I was interested in. I identified them separately and then added them, individually, to the cart. I got two of the same photo, but didn't realize they were the same thing until I went to download them. I ended up paying for the same photo twice. I want a refund. Once I get it, I'll start all over and get the second one I was looking at. I'm not impressed with this web site.
2017-02-22 16:07:53 wildwarren Attendant to my last comment, I was extremely frustrated that I could not find contact information. This is lousy customer service. I'll be finding other sources for my aerials if this isn't fixed.
2017-02-22 23:21:17 our2kids11 I hope this is a beta test. The old site worked great on my iPhone and iPad as well as our computers at work. Now, after the new updated site hit, nothing works well. I'm a big fan of the dissolve feature and nothing seems to work. On the iOS devises the swipe feature works but that's about useless. The site was excellent, lets get that back please.
2017-02-23 05:19:33 holmp@leidos.com Greetings, I have added an image to My Gallery, which doesn't show up. I am using Mozilla Firefox. Do I need to purchase it first? If so, I didn't see that option.
2017-02-23 06:25:53 ccman51 Many banks will not accept aerial photo's with watermarks, so you are handing business to your competitors. Let's make this simple. How about you need a subscription to even get the viewer, so you can eliminate the watermarks and allow copying without that shitty pop-up on the screen?
2017-02-23 07:54:21 scottclark Compare tools are broken on Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87 Spotlight tool stuck in upper left corner on any comparison. Thanks for all your hard work! Scott
2017-02-23 15:46:01 Chuck The slide doesn't work
2017-02-24 05:03:57 William Comparison slide not appearing under... Safari 10.0.3 OS X 10.12.3 The comparison slide had worked on the morning of February 21st.
2017-02-24 10:24:33 William Everything is working in Safari, Opera & Chrome under OS X. Your new site and map features are terrific. Having worked in software development 20+ years ago, I know it can be a gut turning enterprise when you release product in the "wild". You did some fast patches. Godspeed with your new website.
2017-02-26 13:22:23 mixdenny I notice that after I center the viewer in my computer screen and select another year to compare things, the entire page refreshes which shifts everything downward so the full page header appears on the computer screen. This really loses your position unless you just leave the header showing, but then only part of the viewer window can be seen. Other then that, I love it. Having the map is a good idea as it lets you move quickly to your location of interest.
2017-03-01 13:07:59 jeffmpak I type in address then I get the yellow circle for a long time, eventually circle disappears and the viewer is blank. Been like this since about 1130AM today.
2017-03-03 11:13:56 bill5308 I am interested in learning about some of the photographers that took and sold aerial photos to home and property owners. My main interest is in the eastern USA PA, NY New England. I have located Henry DeWolf's negatives 1940's thru 1982. Have been looking for Mason Bros Flying Service. Are there others that were in the business. Vintage Aerial has a great collection.
2017-03-03 18:19:12 planetearthwind been a huge fan of site for years, always talked about it referred to people, etc.. i metal detect for hobby and would easily have paid a small fee for full access or less intrusive water marks or some updated/added more map access.... but honestly $39 per month just seems out right greedy
2017-03-09 11:38:20 loneill Hi there. I have tried the new site in multiple browsers today and cannot get images to load in any. The default base map loads, but none of the historic aerials or topos. Is there a browser preference or plug-in required for the new site? Or is there just a glitch at the moment. Thanks!
2017-03-10 19:20:07 Resorocket1 Cannot get the compare to work , I click the compare icon the slider comes up the years appear on the right but when you select one no map loads the left hand year bar always works even when in compare I've tried it on safari, chrome & Firefox I've used my iPad,iPhone &a laptop I've tried it on my wife's iPad same problem?
2017-03-12 22:40:59 wildmandigging Where did all the topo maps from north GA and AL go to? They used to go back to the late 1800's, now it's 1950's and 30's to start. Absolutely hate it. This is a step back.
2017-03-13 12:30:15 creesejr I love the site, and the new layout looks great, but I cannot access any of the old maps anymore for Oklahoma. Checked the other threads and there is no scroll bar to find the others. They are there when I log in, but as soon as it is done they disappear except for the top 4 years???
2017-03-16 12:34:00 dsmalley Good luck with this new format. it is truly dysfunctional and your prices are jacked up 3 times. I am not paying $60 for an aerial I recently paid $20 for! I need to order 9 at a time but this is ridiculous
2017-03-19 23:52:54 dsmalley I get black maps consistently. The program was working great but it keeps defaulting to a different address (my home aerial) and will not stay on track so I can download additional years for my target site. It would be nice if I could select all the maps I want at one time but when I try it only allows me to toggle and not purchase.
2017-03-19 23:57:33 dsmalley Can't add Aerials to my gallery
2017-03-20 06:23:46 William Which browsers and operating systems have you designed your new site to? I ask this because I'm getting different results depending upon operating system and browser. Perhaps you could segment the forum into category discussions, such as; "Technical - operating systems > browser", "general discussions", "new maps", "map finds", etc. This might help everyone identify problems specific to their platform. I think your new format is terrific as it will propel your site well into the future.
2017-03-20 08:57:57 sammcgee Is there an issue in downloading a composite image using dissolve? Upon downloading a dissolved photo, only the first image is shown, there is no sign of the overlaid photo. Is possible to download/print dissolved images? Did I miss some information on the web page where it is explained?
2017-03-23 10:43:37 TWYLA I am not sure if I have chosen the year that I want to purchase. Is there a way I can see it a little more clearly (watermark is ok) before I decide?
2017-03-24 07:44:04 Oo7Legend I have been a fan for years and tell people all the time about your site, that said the maps i use to look at Queens, NY 11413 are now missing before 1966. Can you tell me if they will be added again.
2017-03-26 19:44:54 glennacarney There are a lot of issues now. Maps are too slow. Previously available maps no longer available. Too small visible map segment on screen. Impossible to preview with watermarks. Very unfortunate.
2017-03-28 09:19:28 ericmooney69 Any way to know the exact data photos were taken? In particular I'm interested in 2003 and 2004 in Hawthorne, CA. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
2017-04-01 21:32:03 ralfwho congrats. You've managed to make an interesting and useful tool cumbersome and generally difficult to navigate. Go back one iteration and stop playing with it.
2017-04-01 21:46:42 jessadr My aunt worked for the state of Tn for most of her career taking these pictures. Our family's taxes paid for them and now the assess to them is being sold. I guess everything is done that way now. I wish there was a price limited to just a small area offered. Still think it is cool to see pictures from the 60's.
2017-04-01 22:09:24 ralfwho A little free advice from someone who has been writing (mainframe) software for 49 years. Successful rollout requires testing on EVERY (repeat E-V-E-R-Y) platform/browser/OS combination that is practical to test with. If you're looking to produce a quality product that will not have teething problems that might cost you customers, you have to set aside a dozen or so machines that are used for testing only. If I was cutting code in your market, I'd invest in a half-dozen MACs and a half dozen PCs running current, -1 and -2 generations of OS, running Chrome, Safari, Explorer, etc. There is nothing more aggravating (from a development viewpoint) than sending out code to the marketplace that works great on one platform only to find out that a -1 level of OS on a MAC with Safari fails badly. Given the wide variey of complaints in this forum, I think you'd be hard pressed to convince anyone that appropriate multi-platform function testing has been done.
2017-04-05 09:24:08 pordy Hi - first time with new site- biggest stumble for me was realizing the years could be scrolled to find older maps (that I knew you had on old site). My biggest beef is that I paid for several maps on the old site that are no longer available to me. Yes I probably have most of them downloaded on a machine somewhere, but I know at least one is not, and now I'm faced with paying for it again (at a higher cost no less). I love the site but wish it weren't so expensive - I'm just a local historian offering free labor to the historical societies, preservation commissions, and residents of my area towns, and the new costs make that prohibitive (yes I know there are new benefits and you deserve to be paid for the great service you provide).
2017-04-05 09:38:52 Brookby House I'm not finding any option to get a link address so I can add map locations to emails, blogs, Facebook etc. No longer available?
2017-04-28 12:11:41 primo1 Hi, will you guys be coming out with a mobile version anytime soon? This works great on my PC, but has major issues when using it on my phone.
2017-05-04 11:20:19 mlc No matter what location in the US I enter, only topo maps can be displayed. I get a big gray box when selecting the years on the satellite images. I have tried Chrome, Firefox and IE as well as 3 different computers. Same problem.
2017-05-09 16:35:42 wingmaster I can't get images to load after switching from map, I was going to buy an image but now can't even check to make sure I get what I'm wanting. I'm not sure about buying now that the site won't even work.
2017-09-04 13:11:06 mxpxboy Not all you maps have carried over with the conversion. I can't get any map old than 2008 to load for my city. I've been using this site for years and never had a problem accessing older maps. It's like they've vanished.
2017-09-05 12:40:01 JimH In my research of historic land use and architecture, I've used the site on a regular basis for a few years. With different desktop computers with various browsers, I've never encountered a serious problem accessing or viewing the maps and aerials provided. I think the site is an invaluable research tool and I appreciate the service. Thank You!
2017-10-04 11:37:03 William I miss the notices we used to get on the old site about newly scanned and posted aerials and topos. Any thoughts about adding that feature to this new site.
2017-10-27 15:07:29 farmallman94 Hello, Just curious as to any ideas when the historic imagery availability for New York State will be completely done (Utica area here). Thanks!
2017-11-03 12:26:57 rclinite Does anyone know how to transfer purchased images from this site to Google Earth? I used the old site and I believe I was able to purchase KML files which would align perfectly with the same area in Google Earth. Any suggestions?
2017-11-26 12:24:49 Pat Wiegert I'm trying to understand what some of the dotted & dashed lines mean and not sure where I should look.
2017-12-08 16:13:42 Claire Snavely On the old site, the original source for the aerials used to be listed... TxDOT, USDA, USGS..... that "metadata" doesn't appear to be available any longer. Where do I obtain this on the new website.
2017-12-13 16:31:23 warc1 I would suggest that your individual subscription pricing is constraining your market. You recognize that your product appeals to a wide range of the general public given the many fields of interest you list in your registration drop down box. However, your individual pricing of around $500/year means only a niche market can afford your service. Contrast this price with the cost of the most popular digital subscription services available to the general public. There is a common price that you will see over and over again for such services (Netflix, MS Office, Adobe Photo, Spotify etc.) and that is $9.99/month or just over $100 year. This is not a coincidence. A large proportion of the general public views $100/year as an incremental cost. To this group, it can be borne with without need to budget or make a trade-off. A much smaller group can say the same thing about a service that cost $500/year. That is significant enough that the great majority of the general public will consciously assess the impacts to their budget. I would assert that most will come to the conclusion that the necessary sacrifices outweigh the benefits. This is certainly my case where I cannot justify that level of expenditure and yet I would sign up at $9.99/month in a heartbeat. I'm suggesting that price level would easily expand your market by more than 4X which would be necessary to offset the reduced price. Offered as food for thought.
2018-01-19 14:01:44 bsappenfield I love using this site, it's very interesting. I mainly look at photos in the Atlanta, GA metro area and the Memphis, TN metro area. I have noticed there have been no new photos on in these areas since 2013 and 2012 respectively. Do you know when there will be newer photos for these areas? Thank you!

2018-03-26 00:45:46 chicoquadcore I know this has been brought up before... but any plans to improve the mobile experience? An app would obviously be preferred.. and I know plenty of people that would purchase it in the app store. But just having a functional mobile friendly site would be fantastic...

http://HistoricAerials.com  recently in the news.  Video demonstrating stark differences as time passes in New Hampshire

2018-05-07 09:47:18 TomMc11 Since about last Wednesday I have not been able to see any aerials from 2003 to the present. Everything prior to that works find but the last 15 years do not.
2018-05-09 16:04:26 Jeff

Hey Historic Aerials buffs, We'd like to hear from you!  We're always amazed at the unique interests our users have, and unexpected ways our customers utilizing the website.  We've heard of customers searching for a meteorite crash site, searching for Civil War memorabilia, gathering specifics for Model Railroad layouts, and even had law enforcement looking for the location of a body in an area that had changed drastically over time.  We always enjoy hearing about the unexpected uses that our website allows users to explore.  This is OUR history, we’d love to hear from you.  Who knows, maybe one day we’ll have a TV show and have an opportunity to share that story.  Let’s make this fun, let us know what you found, how it worked out.  Did you find what you were looking for?

2018-08-11 15:47:51 moonman1 From Virginia up to NYC.... As of today(8/11/2018) we cannot view any images prior to 2002. The areas are not blacked out ...just gray. Any ideas?
2018-08-14 21:00:30 mtrussell For some reason I have repeat images in my account gallery. Is there a way to delete the extra ones I don't need? Thanks!
2018-08-27 11:59:22 TPratch Is there any way to delete unwanted maps from My Gallery? Thank you.
2018-08-28 11:12:43 snowmountainfarm Hi Historic Aerials. We have an old farm in Buckland MA. I was viewing your photos of the farm. The earliest is 1940. I know there are 6 photos available from this 1940 flight. When I view the location on the website only one of the six is here. Is there a way to view the other photos? Thanks. Jack
2018-09-16 15:17:06 katya There was a "tweet" button that I don't see anymore... it allowed me to copy link to location on the map, with coordinates. Any chance to return that ability?
2018-10-10 13:58:05 Silverman First timer here. How can I find the legend to the maps?
2018-11-01 14:09:29 hatchetation Hi there, I like the site, and enjoy using it from time to time, it's a neat tool. Can someone clarify what content Netronline is claiming as being under their copyright when displaying the historic USGS topo maps? They display as "(c) HISTORICAERIALS.COM COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL" It's certainly your tool to develop and restrict as you please, but plastering public domain materials with your own copyright notice seems to be in bad form - especially when so much of the tool is based on public data and open source software. Please consider the impression this type of thing leaves on your potential customers - as someone who occasionally purchases historical aerial imagery, makes frequent use of historic US gov resources in the public domain, and who contributes to OSM, this leaves a really bad taste in my mouth at least.
2018-11-19 13:09:44 Faire1too Hi, how do I correct road names? I can show you a google map that has the correct road names.
2018-12-05 16:38:31 Bubbarx@bubbarx.com Is it possible to print a photo of split screen image using the slide tool? Say 2013 on one side, 1956 on the other side.
2018-12-06 09:55:44 Bubbarx@bubbarx.com For instance you have an photo before roads were there but being able to print the photo with the road names overlay would greatly assist with identifyng locations.
2019-01-09 10:32:24 rsaltzman26 I'm getting a grey box in the viewer window whenever I select a year for either topo map or aerial photo. It doesn't seem to matter what geographic location I select. The same thing happens on Firefox and Google Chrome (IE 11 doesn't seem to support the website at all). I didn't experience this until recently. I'm on a Windows 7 desktop machine, if that matters.
2019-01-16 12:18:17 archaeolojay How should this website be properly cited? Should it be NETROnline or Historic Aerials, NETROnline/Historic Aerials, or Nationwide Environmental Title Research?
2019-02-16 12:26:22 William This may sound like a strange request but it's something I've been mulling over for quite some time. Is there a way to susbstitutue my Google navigation maps, on my iPhone or tablet, with an aerial photo from this site? I'd like to display how our roads and highways have replaced so many farms and estates in real time as one drives on any road. In New England, so many farms and fertile fields have become housing developments, parking lots, and shopping centers and I'd like to show children and students, with realtime navigation, what the countryside used to look like before the interstate highway system was built. It would be a neat experience to drive by a shopping plaza as the navigation application displays a 1953 aerial which shows that a farm had once occupied that location. I often take the Massachusetts turnpike and witness so many old stone walls and abandoned roads which the interstate highway bisected. If my navigation software could display a moving historic aerial instead of the contemporary one it would help illustrate the changes that have taken place. It would be like visiting the past as you drive around in you vehicle.
2019-05-29 19:22:09 wendyschneider Can I use an image in a documentary?
2019-10-27 09:18:21 Davelt19 Is there a way to obtain a specific date of the aerial photograph?
2019-11-05 09:26:11 akatina I purchased a GEOTiff at 3600 p x 3600 p. Can you tell me what the resolution of the file is?
2019-11-07 08:32:55 ARCHKRIS i am new to this site so have no idea on the clarity of the image resolutions offered, i have 1 view selected from a B &W 1955 time date that i would like to purchase but the issue i am having is what the differences are from worst to best to purchase. i will be looking for evidence of an old French Fur Trader's cabin circa 1816, the cabin had a French Quebec farm house style fireplace made from the nearby river rock, evidence of this fireplace still standing has been reported in Historical writings from the early 1900's, the selection i have made(1955) shows the target area wide open with no tree canopy in the way. also to how much can you zoom in based on the resolutions?, thanks for any help!
2019-12-30 22:15:06 Brett

We are currently having issues serving aerial and topo map tiles.  Thanks for your patience as we fix the issue.

2020-01-01 12:50:42 Brett

Added aerial photo coverage for all of Marion County Illinois a total area of 576 square miles in the year 1955.  View of the Marion County Illinois Courthouse located in Salem Illinois in 1955.  Happy New Year!

2020-01-07 01:57:17 Ctchaffin I just used this site a few days ago and had no problems. Now when I try to view different aerial years it just loads as a black screen with the copy right watermarks still over the map. And sometimes it will say “unavailable” at the bottom. And I know that the maps are available as I just looked in the same places only days prior.

2020-06-09 11:17:48 hamaharoof When I click "Compare", it compares the chosen year with the atlas map. I would like to compare two different aerials though. Is there a way I can do that?
2020-09-23 14:26:09 cv4wheeler I would like to include portions of aerial images in a local history book I am working on to self-publish. What are the rules on that use? Thanks!
2020-09-23 15:39:30 tman2k02 Hey I am noticing that you have uploaded more imagery of West Monroe and Monroe, Louisiana over the past 8 to 9 months. I am curious as to where you found such clear images for the years 1983, 1985, 1955, and 1956. Also, I would love to see some images spanning from the years 1986 to 1992, if you guys have it. Those are the years my neighborhood was built and I would love to be able to see what everything looked like during those times. I know that images of each year do exist because I found many on the EOS LandViewer website that were taken by Landsat satellites dating way back to 1982. These images are very blurry so I cannot see much of anything. If you find anymore of these images of West Monroe then I would love to see them! Thanks
2020-10-09 21:10:12 Dank Memes Hello, I am wondering how I could download an image of a large area without it becoming too pixelated as I zoom in. I realized tiles change as you zoom in, with 1 becoming 4 smaller ones, then 16, etc, which can be seen with the watermark becoming smaller. So basically a fixed area would have a resolution of 512x512, then 1024x1024, then 2048x2048, the more you zoom in. I can understand how this can be used for faster loading times, but I would appreciate having more detail in a large image. So the main thing I am wondering is if I am buying a high res jpeg, png, or geotiff, will it use those higher quality tiles that I get when I zoom in or will I download a lower quality image with the same tile code seen with regular viewing just upscaled to 1800p?
2020-11-17 19:14:47 thxdave I want to buy some map prints (18x18, probably) and was wondering how you make them. Are they on heavier photo type printer paper? I'm assuming you are printing inkjet prints. Thanks.

Happy New Year! Added aerial photo coverage for all of York County South Carolina a total area of 696 square miles in the 1980's (1983 & 1984). View of Winthrop University located in Rock Hill South Carolina in the year 1983.

2021-03-01 10:59:44 markagrant Before I buy a subscription, I'm trying to figure out what a "Credit" is worth? ....since the cost is associated with credits I have no clue how many credits I need or want. Please clarify. Thanks, Mark
2021-03-12 13:38:30 Dirt Dauber Any plans in the future of including LIDAR photos?
2021-04-06 10:19:26 Milissa Do unused credits not rollover to the next month? I had quite a few unused credits from the prior month....did I loose them? Please clarify, thanks!
2021-04-09 10:33:25 MikeBurns_0 Is there a way to see what difference there is among 1800px, 3600px and 7200px pgn files for a 1952 aerial? If there isn't more detail then what is the advantage of purchasing the higher resolution?
2021-05-06 13:25:40 gss@ftn-assoc.com I would like to clarify something in your Terms and Conditions. If it makes a difference, I am looking at a one-time purchase, not a subscription. I need an aerial image for a background of a map figure that will be supplied to our client as part of our report. Your sections on Intellectual Property and Restrictions on Use seem to prohibit this - reproduction, create of new works from, make available to third parties, etc. Am I correct in understanding it this way?
2021-06-10 15:59:03 PNWchris84 I'm interested in the history of the aerial photos from the 1930s, which appear to the be the earliest you have. Do you have any information on which, if any, government agency undertook these surveys? How did they do it? Thank you!
2021-07-20 08:39:21 jrd56 Hello everybody ! If I purchase a particular photograph will I receive / download it without the Watermarks ?
2021-09-21 16:50:57 Dannny98 So I've been looking at some of the photos, and at the edges/corners, there seems to be some kind of codes that are stamped to the original photo. one looks like a date, (the one at the bottom that reads 4-23-80). Is that one the date the photo was taken on? And what are the other codes for? Link for what I'm talking about: https://imgur.com/a/jpJtP5u Thanks
2021-10-04 09:56:57 martinblaise I have a Facebook page on abandoned bridges and abandoned roads. Not for any commercial use at all. Educational only. Can I point to or share a link on historic aerials? If so, how? Thanks. Marty
2021-10-15 14:37:25 nbeltramelli I need to use whatever I purchase in GIS, are the JPGs and PNGs GIS ready or would I need to manually create a world file? I'm assuming the Geotiff is GIS ready, but if I can pay less and get the same functionality, I would prefer to do so.
2021-12-07 16:25:35 rayh22 Why are my downloads for an 1800 x 1800 image just 300K? What am I doing wrong?

2022-08-01 12:09:14 TaylorAdams The source data description for a 1966 image I purchased of an irrigated parcel in Saguache County Colorado lists the source as "USGS", and I'm wondering if this image comes from their ASPF program, their NAPP program, or some other USGS program. Is that metadata available?

2023-01-12 07:56:17 dwight_the_mag_guy I don't know how to upload old aerials. Can someone teach me how?
2023-01-12 13:06:20 dwight_the_mag_guy Hi! I'm new here and I am wondering where to find the USGS county maps. Does anyone have the URL?
2023-01-13 15:23:50 BLPWATERDOWN Just wondering if these maps cover Canada as well ?
2023-03-22 06:17:33 alexhurz Hello, This site is great. Kudos and thanks for all that amazing information and work put into it. Would it be possible to know the source of the aerials photos of New York City in 1980? Thanks a lot!
2023-09-22 08:21:48 dianelise I currently have a subscription that I would like to cancel. However, when I try cancel via the instructions in the FAQ, there is no "cancel subscription" option on my Subscription page. It just shows my current subscription. How do I find the cancel button?
2023-11-25 08:04:39 JPR Hi Folks, I'm not much good with computers at my age and I can't figure out how to download a photo from the viewer. Everything seems to work fine until I get to the payment section. It won't let me enter my credit card info. Any suggestions? Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

Happy New Year! Added aerial photo coverage for all of McNairy County Tennessee in the year 1960. View of Selmer Tennessee in 1960.

2024-02-26 01:41:34 andrewflanders My son and I enjoy looking at how things were fifty or even a hundred years ago. We don't use the site in a professional capacity. We look at the site about once a month, maybe once every other month. I'd be willing to pay $10/mo even if I go months at a time without using the site at all. For $20/mo I'd probably subscribe for a few months, but possibly cancel if we lose interest for a long enough period of time. $40/mo is way beyond what I'd consider as we're just using the site occasionally for fun. I'd suggest $10/mo for the fact that I'd probably forget I'm even paying it and you'd get $120 out of me annually. Mostly what we'd like is just to see pictures without "COPYRIGHT MATERIAL" blocking our view. I hope you will consider our use case and a reasonable price for our use.
2024-05-21 10:37:22 fangsheath01 Any idea when more Tobin aerials of Louisiana from the 1930's will be available? Be assured that I will be purchasing some.
2024-09-12 19:53:06 hoffnerhaus I chose three images, put them in my cart, and tried to click "checkout", but it's not clickable. In fact, when I went to the bottom of the page to "Contact Us", none of those subjects in the right column are clickable. Thanks in advance for your help. Dave Hoffner
2024-12-08 12:58:28 dheflin I was sent a photo that had some damage due to shipping and customer service was quick and responsive. Great company!
2024-12-29 08:07:26 potter660 I'm am sick and tired of this goddamm crap of not being able to access aerials on this site due to CONTINUED attempts but still blocked out on ALL OF MY BROWERS Google, DuckDuckGo, Microsoft Edge, Firefox and Norton browser!! Even pausing Adblocker and other such programs doesn't help. I'M TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE TO A SITE THAT IS MORE USER FRIENDLY.
2024-12-29 08:10:37 potter660 Still NOT recognizing that I paused my adblocker. As far as i'm concerned, you all can go straight to HELL!! I wish you nothing but lots and lots of viruses attacking your site.
2024-12-29 08:40:53 potter660 I really don't wish for Historic Aerials to be infested with viruses, but I'm very ticked off of suddenly not being able to access aerials on any of my browsers after many years of successful usage of this site to look up historical data. No efforts to disable or pause adblocker sites or even use of DuckDuckGo will permit me to look at aerials or other features of this site. Doesn't speak well to also demand paid subscriptions just for looking.

Happy New Year! Added aerial photo coverage for all of Oceana County Michigan in the year 1958. View of Hart Michigan the county seat and largest city in 1958.

2025-01-02 19:06:27 3p1cp3r50n I think it would be cool if you could export measurements to something like Geojson, and maybe have a little thing to ask if you want it to be a line or a polygon. That would make me very happy.
2025-02-16 13:11:08 Nells250 I see that I am not the only person who, after years, can no longer use the website properly due to ads being blocked even when they are shut off. I have tried everything and even though someone in customer support seemed to try to help, no solution was ever found. The subscription rates are way too high for me... perhaps a small fee for people who just like to browse is in order? If that will even solve the issue. The only way I have found to use the site almost properly is my using the Edge browser. Opera, Firefox, and D.D.G. don't work anymore.
2025-03-12 18:47:25 BluegrassBottleDigger This place has gone downhill the last several months. Now anytime I look at aerials of any year in my area, I zoom in and get multiple black boxes in different sections saying "Image Unavailable and some crap about image server". I zoom out and that image loads and then a whole different section of images then give me the black boxes. Never had this issue until about 2 months ago. Anyone else having this issue as of late?
2025-03-18 18:08:11 dar2264 Is anyone missing the button to expand the window size to full screen? I am logged in, but the button for expanding to full screen is missing.
2025-04-05 16:38:39 rebel049 Logged on this morning (8 AM ET) and said image server is down and will be back in a few minutes. Now in the eveneing (730 PM ET) and still saying image server is down. Paying customer, not happy. 11.5 hours is not a few minutes.
2025-05-19 07:21:29 fangsheath01 My understanding is that the old Tobin aerials came in stereoscopic pairs. Can you confirm this, and if true, are there any plans to make such pairs available?
2025-07-12 11:03:53 phongshader I just purchased an 1800x1800 image and it's very blurry. I don't know if that's from compression, resolution, or image quality. What I don't want to do is purchase an image at a higher resolution and get the same image quality. Is there a way to see a preview at the desired resolution to see if there is an improvement of image quality BEFORE purchasing?
